Job Title: Paving Foreman
Department: Traffic Solutions
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Paving Foreman to lead our paving and asphalt teams on various construction projects. The Paving Foreman will play a crucial role in ensuring that projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest qualitystandards.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise paving and asphalt crews, ensuring they work efficiently and effectively
- Provide clear instructions and guidance to crew members
- Foster a positive and collaborative team environment
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and oversee all paving and asphalt activities on the job site
- Ensure that work is completed according to project plans, specifications, and industry standards.
- Monitor progress and make adjustments to meet project timelines
- Implement and maintain strict quality control measures to achieve top-quality results
- Conduct inspections and address any issues or deviations from project requirements promptly
- Ensure that materials are ordered, received, and used efficiently
- Minimize material waste and track inventory
- Serve as a point of contact between the project manager, clients, and crew members
- Report project progress and any issues to senior management
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and PPE procedures
- Ability to conduct accident investigations and safety inspections
- Proficient written and oral communication skills according to skill requirements
- Possess strong computer skills, able to read, write, and comprehend written instructional documents in English
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Ability to apply concepts of introductory algebra and geometry
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least two years of related experience required
- Proficient with scheduling software, and CAE and CAD applications
- Proficient with the reading CAD or design documents and diagram
- Proficient with taking and uploading digital photographs
- Blueprint knowledge
- Experience operating a Longliner
- Able to read TXDOT, engineer, and other plans
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Prolonged period of standing, bending, reaching, and working with hands
- Occasional periods of prolonged exposure to loud noises
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds at times
- Ability to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands as necessary
- Ability to hear and see to position and safety requirement levels
- Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals
Special Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must be able to successfully pass as required a federal, state, or local government's background investigation
- Valid state driver's license
