What are the responsibilities and job description for the Traffic Control Specialist (Conway SC) position at King?
PURPOSE: To assist in the preparatory and laborious work associated with the different departmental trades; pipe, asphalt, grading, curb and gutter, structures, traffic control, etc.
JOB DUTIES:
Perform work zone traffic control activities as needed and required.
Develop and execute an effective and compliant traffic control plan, in conjunction with project management, including individual work activities, to meet project goals.
Conduct daily and routine work zone traffic control inspections as required.
Responsible for training and development of workers who perform work zone traffic control tasks.
Required to operate pickups and/or flatbed trucks, and miscellaneous hand tools.
Work from ladders, lifts, scaffolds, as necessary, to install, maintain or repair traffic control devices.
Must also be able to load and unload trucks and haul and lift materials.
Complete required paperwork in a timely manner while assuring accuracy.
Assures the proper handling, storage and inventory of work zone traffic control equipment and materials for the duration of the project.
Ensure that required tasks are completed in accordance with all applicable company, local, state and federal rules and regulations.
Effectively communicate any problems or concerns to appropriate personnel.
Perform additional duties as required or directed by their immediate supervisor or other manager.
KNOWLEDGE Most general construction working positions do not require any specific background or knowledge, however the ability to read, writing, add, and subtract of whole numbers increases the opportunity to be upgraded or trained in other skills in the company that do require such knowledge.
Certification through the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) or equivalent recognized authority. Certification can be obtained at On Boarding.
Proven experience working as a flagger.
Sound knowledge of state traffic regulations.
