JOB SUMMARY:

The Weatherization Assessor/Inspector is responsible for assessing new client homes and inspecting work that has already been performed on client homes.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess client homes to identify eligibility for weatherization measures such as weather stripping, low flow shower heads, window replacement, and other energy efficient measures.
  • Conduct energy audits, complete assessments, create work lists, and cost estimates as needed on eligible households.
  • Plan weatherization and housing repair work needed to meet program requirements and objectives during the assessment process.
  • Inspect client homes to confirm proper installation of all weatherization measures such as weather stripping, low flow shower heads, window replacement, and other energy efficient measures as identified in initial assessment.
  • Verify that all work meets quality expectations of KCAO and grant funding requirements.
  • Assemble related documents required by funders.
  • Create a complete file for each inspected home.
  • Submit completed files for processing to department staff once all required measures have been installed and inspected.
  • Perform facility maintenance duties, including plumbing, groundwork, and installation of materials as needed.
  • Establish rapport with community to promote the program services.
  • Respond to client inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Participate in staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associates Degree in business management construction management, property management, or related field; AND
  • 2 years of experience in construction, community development, housing rehabilitation, or property rehabilitation.

OR

  • High school diploma or equivalent; AND
  • 3 years of experience in weatherization construction, community development, housing rehabilitation, or property rehabilitation.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • General Contractor's License a plus
  • OSHA 10 and Basic Training Certifications.
  • Work variable hours and days, including those outside regular Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. business hours.
  • Meet and maintain KCAO hiring requirements which include:
    • Criminal Record Clearance including California DOJ, FBI and Child Abuse Centralized Index (CACI).
    • Reliable, insured transportation and valid California Driver License.
    • Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) acceptable to KCAO's vehicle insurer.
    • Health examination with tuberculin clearance.
  • Ability to be contacted outside of regularly scheduled work hours in case of emergency.
  • Provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination or medical or religious exemption request form, if applicable.
