Overview
Kingspan Insulation has a new opportunity for an experienced Process Engineer. This position is responsible for providing engineering support to develop, maintain, evaluate and improve processes of all product lines in a continuous and complex manufacturing environment. Supervises Quality Technicians and provides direct oversight of Quality activities including equipment upkeep and calibration, audit preparation, and general quality improvements.

Key Duties Include
- Performs all work in a safe manner; promotes and fosters a safe work environment.
- Responsible for developing and improving manufacturing foam extrusion processes, maximizing production yields and quality while minimizing waste and cost.
- Provides engineering support to maintain, evaluate and improve processes in a continuous and complex manufacturing environment.
- Communicates and coordinates with supervisors, managers, technicians and operators to continually improve manufacturing processes by minimizing material usage.
- Creates and maintains accurate engineering/process documentation of product specifications, Process Flow diagrams, Process Failure Modes and Root Cause Analysis.
- Implements new or change processes and manages trials to evaluate new products.
- Creates, reviews and monitors adherence to manufacturing and quality standards to optimize cost, productivity and customer expectations.
- Develops training modules on procedures and process corrective actions and leads training sessions.
- Communicates with line supervisors and operators, develops training modules on procedures and processes corrective actions.
- Completes special projects.
- Improves current measurement techniques through Gauge R&R studies and ensures reliability and accuracy of process and quality data.
Essential duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature. Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience: BS in engineering or related field, plus at least three (3) years’ experience in the engineering field with demonstrated process skills.
Preferred Experience:
- Five (5) years’ experience in plastics and/or foam extrusion or chemical experience.
- Experience in Lean manufacturing with a history of leading problem solving activities.
- SAP or similar software experience.
- Experience with Quality Systems.
Must have:
- Experience with business computer applications (Microsoft Office).
- Thorough knowledge of production process to include forming/extrusion.
- Strong leadership skills and problem solving ability. Strong communication skills, effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Working knowledge of production environments and safety procedures.
Must be able to:
- Demonstrate troubleshooting and problem solving ability.
- Must be able to effectively operate building product equipment with complete understanding of all involved processes.
- Work in a team based environment.
- Be flexible with hours worked, working "on call as needed" including evenings, early mornings, and weekends.
- Set and manage multiple priorities.
- Follow directions and get along well with others.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret complex documents such as operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write complex reports and correspondence. Must be able to communicate orally and written in English.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures by using advanced math skills, applicable to and consistent with an engineering degree.
Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in non-standardized situations.
