Accountant

We focus exclusively on the excess and surplus lines (‘‘E&S’’) market in the U.S., where we can use our underwriting expertise to write coverages for hard-to-place small business risks. Kinsale Insurance is looking for a full time Accountant to join our growing company and Finance team at our new office in Richmond, VA.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for recording and reporting transactions and tax filings and payment
• Responsible for recording various expense related transactions and bank reconciliations
• Create and record journal entries for above transactions
• Monthly and quarterly operating journal entries for KMI
• Assist with quarterly schedules for Statutory Reporting
• Maintain depreciation schedules in BNA
• Reconcile bank statements
• Assist with cash management as needed
• Compliance and documentation of SOX control procedures
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance-related field preferred
• One to three years of accounting experience required
• CPA preferred
• One to three years of related insurance experience preferred
• High degree of accuracy and efficiency
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Detail-oriented with initiative and ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
