What we offer:
KION North America Corp. has an immediate need for a Commercial Attorney at our North American headquarters located in Summerville, SC. This is a critical position to support continual growth of the North American KION business.
Position Summary:
This position will be primarily responsible for reviewing, negotiating, and drafting legal documents related to the business of KION, researching legal issues and providing legal advice on legal issues to assigned internal departments, including Executive Management, Sales and Purchasing. In addition, this key role will provide legal advice and counseling to the internal Dealership group with respect to legal and commercial transactional matters.
Key Responsibilities:
Independently draft and negotiate contracts, including master and supplementary agreements
Respond promptly and accurately with minimal supervision to business requests for advice related to complex contracts and escalate to legal team and others where required
Prepare analysis to identify key terms, comparisons to our standard agreements and recommend strategy to business as needed
Research and provide advice regarding dealership and franchise laws in the various states where our dealers are located
Tasks and Qualifications:
Minimum 6 - 8 years of legal experience (external law firm, and /or in-house)
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction
Significant experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements dealership/distributor agreements, master sales agreements, and purchasing agreements
Provide legal support to internal business partners, including executive management, sales, purchasing, finance, customer service, human resources and other business functions, in a manner that integrates legal risk management with the company’s business objectives
Respond to ad hoc queries to identify, analyze, and evaluate risks and provide appropriate legal solutions
Ability to perform legal research and analysis across multiple jurisdictions
Strong management, organizational and problem-solving skills, and excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to lead and manage multiple projects in a corporate setting
Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures to commercial contracts
Highly motivated, independent, self-starter with ability to multitask and constantly prioritize in fast-paced environment
Desire to work with global teams and flexibility to occasionally work across time zones other than where the position is based
Experience managing outside counsel litigation matters is a plus, but not required.
Experience in manufacturing is a plus, but not required
Ability to work with standard office suite tools (Microsoft).
