Position Overview:
KIPP Nashville is committed to providing a college preparatory humanities education to all students. The Manager of Elementary Humanities plays a critical role in realizing this mission by providing schools with high-quality curriculum materials that are vertically aligned to our middle school curriculum, ensuring that every KIPP Nashville elementary student is ready to matriculate into rigorous middle school humanities courses. The Manager of Elementary Humanities also provides professional development and coaching to regional instructional leaders and teachers. The Manager of Elementary Humanities will report directly to the Director of Elementary Literacy.

Responsibilities of the Manager of Elementary Humanities include, but are not limited to:
Curriculum Frameworks:
Build K-4 regional curriculum with scope and sequences, units, and daily aims and culminating tasks:
K-4 Shared Reading
K-4 Writing
K-2 Half-Year Social Studies Course
Drive K-4 unit launch and lesson study structures, including internalization templates, schedules and protocols for the above.
Facilitate and support in 3-year rollout plan for regional supports for K-2 Phonics and Word Study
Determine and execute regional supports for K-2 Small Group Reading, including:
mCLASS Analysis direction and coaching, including templates, timelines and action step modeling
Creation of and alignment to a shared Small Group Reading rubric
Assessment and Data-Driven Instruction (DDI):
Publish ES Literacy assessments
Drive K-4 literacy assessment cycles at the regional level including establishing timelines, communicating school scheduling and instructional goals, and providing SL or AP support in scoring/norming.
Vet assessments, author assessments, and/or project manage assessment writing for K-4 literacy, including:
Shared reading checkpoints
Shared reading End of Module assessments
Writing On Demand Tasks
Manage yearly literacy assessment calendars and scope and sequences for the region.
Prepare data for, and participate in, weekly regional Academic Progress Monitoring meetings
Professional Development
Facilitate and support summer PD to launch shared vision and build teacher toolkit
Facilitate and support shared PD calendar during the year to support teacher execution
Participate in and support facilitation of Instructional Rounds as the calendar allows for APs and Ps
Co-observe with APs and/or Director of Elementary Literacy at least monthly to drive alignment of execution
Desired Qualifications:
At least three years of experience teaching elementary humanities courses
Demonstrated ability to drive student success
Experience in curriculum support, such as assessment writing and/or scope and sequence management.
Strong project management skills, organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Demonstrated passion for the mission, vision and values of KIPP Nashville; comfort and willingness to actively participate in the KIPP Nashville community
Bachelor’s degree required
Additional Information
Salary is competitive, commensurate with experience, and includes benefits. This position is exempt and will follow a 12-month administrative schedule.
