At KIPP St. Louis you will work with students and school teams to identify and support students who need extra help to achieve their reading goals. As a reading specialist, you work with students to improve their phonemic awareness, increase literacy, and a deep understanding of reading on a daily basis. You work alongside our classroom teachers and administrative team to identify students in need of additional reading support

KIPP St. Louis currently educates over 2,000 students and at full growth, we will educate nearly 3,600 students and hundreds of alumni. Today, our St. Louis network consists of two middle schools, three elementary schools, and a high school.

What you will do…
Provide and deliver focused reading intervention instruction to students in small group settings.
Develop and deliver lesson plans appropriate to the needs and abilities of assigned students through push-in or pull out instruction.
Use a variety of instructional techniques and reading materials appropriate for the age and skill level of students for the purpose of improving student outcomes and achievement.
Assists with the screening and evaluation of students.
Frequently monitor progress of students receiving intervention services in order to adjust instructional practice through multiple data systems used by our district.
Collects data to share with classroom teachers.
Participates in monthly professional development sessions.
Attend GLC meetings and parent meetings as required.
Attend and lead professional development opportunities to support students and the school.
Provide input to teams regarding student academic strengths and weaknesses.
Provide the high quality instruction time needed to move students to grade level proficiency.
Perform related duties and responsibilities as requested by the school administrators.
Travel Requirement -travels to school buildings and professional meetings as required.
Follows all district policies and procedures.

What you bring to the table:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Demonstrated success as a teacher (at least 3 years) required.
Appropriate teaching certification

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team of teachers and instructional leaders.
