General Position Summary
The primary responsibility of this position is to plan, organize, and administer Public Health Emergency Preparedness activities, including pre-emergency planning, emergency response activities, and post-emergency functions. In addition, this position manages and directs the development of presentations to the public, schools, community groups and organizations relevant to public health preparedness planning and response.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises two employees in the Health Promotion Disease Prevention. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education, Certification, & Experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (LH20) or Master's degree (LH21). Experience in emergency preparedness, management, or response preferred
Current Driver's License
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Work Schedule
The normal work schedule is 8.00 hours per day 5 days per week; exact schedules are assigned by management. This position may require evening or weekend work. It is the attendance standard of the employer that all employees be present and on time each shift they are scheduled to work. Full or partial absence during any scheduled shift, arriving late, or leaving early, for whatever reason, may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
Time off may be approved if allowed by applicable policies covering illness, injury, or other personal emergency.
Availability for public health emergencies. The Public Health Employee may be required to stay at or return to work during public health incidents and/or emergencies to perform duties specific to his/her position, or to perform other duties as requested in an assigned response position. This may require working a non-traditional work schedule or working outside normal assigned duties during the incident and/or emergency.
