The Maine Youth Alliance (d/b/a The Game Loft and I KNOW ME) is seeking an Executive Director for a 32-hour work-from-home position supporting their Waldo County youth development programs founded to achieve the goal that “youth have hope for the future and believe that success is possible.”
Requirements of the Executive Director:
This position will take over from the organization’s founders and is a hands-on role responsible for the successful management of programs that are in varying stages of operational maturity, and the overall administration of this $400k organization.
\n- A passion for positive youth development and the vision, mission and values of the Maine Youth Alliance (MEYA).
- A minimum of 5 years of organizational and financial management, leadership, and development experience, preferably in the non-profit sector.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree with emphasis on youth development preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience with youth development programs, preferably in a leadership role.
- Ability to lead and manage staff and volunteers, and work closely with the Board of Directors and Community Advisory Boards to meet organizational goals.
- An innovative mindset to ensure that programs embody the most current thinking in the field of Positive Youth Development while upholding the mission of the organization.
- Experience with development (e.g., capital campaign, individual donors, endowment), grant writing, and grant compliance/reporting.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and public speaking skills.
- Experience using QuickBooks Online or other accounting software for managing organization accounting and reporting.
- Live within a commutable distance to the Belfast office for meetings, and ability to work weekends/evenings as needed to support programming, fund raising and board support meetings.
- This is a part-time, 32-hour a week position with pay between $40,000 and $55,000.
- Flexible position working primarily from your home office.
- The Game Loft will support reasonable expenses associated with a home office set up.

The Maine Youth Alliance (MEYA) offers innovative no-fee programming to support positive youth development for students in Waldo County. Programming for the Game Loft and I Know ME (IKME) reflects the theory of Positive Youth Development, the principles that guide 4-H and the Girl Scouts of America. The eight principles of this approach range from the establishment of trust and security to helping the young person know that success is possible.
In addition, The Game Loft is also a USDA-certified Food Service Program offering free meals and snacks daily during program hours to youth under the age of 18.
MEYA serves over 300 youth in Waldo County with a staff of 7, and numerous volunteers.
