Description
The Corporate Accountant is responsible for applying generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to analyze financial information, reconcile financial statements, and prepare both general and standard journal entries. The Corporate Accountant will be involved in and work with the other divisions throughout the Company. This position will support preparing, analyzing, and providing timely financial data to management. This position will work closely with the Accounting and Operations teams.
Essential Functions:
- Compile and perform an analysis of financial information in preparation for financial statements and reports. Makes appropriate journal entries in the general ledger.
- Balances and Reconciles accounts.
- Assist with reconciling Ledgers to General Ledger Account balance.
- Assist in performing accounts vs. budget analysis.
- Reviews accounting documents, conducts research, and resolves discrepancies.
- Compile quarterly and annual financials.
- Communicate with other departments, divisions, stakeholders, and leadership to answer questions, provide support, and ensure the timely completion of processes.
- Collaborate with Management on budgeting, forecasting, and financial dashboards.
- Complete various financial, accounting, administrative, and other reports as assigned.
- Maintain the general ledger, debt schedules, and fixed assets.
- Collaborate with the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams to ensure payments are charged from the correct accounts and verify that invoices/revenues are recorded in the correct accounts.
- Maintains knowledge of General Acceptable Accounting Practices.
- Some travel is required for off-site inventory observation
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is required.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of accounting experience is preferred.
- Strong fundamental understanding of General Acceptable Accounting Procedures. (GAAP)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, etc.) or similar software.
- Ability to learn various accounting and computer systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding company financial data.
- Must be detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and timeliness.
- Experience with budgeting and forecasting preferred.
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must possess the ability to be a self-starter and work independently and as a part of a team.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to safely lift a minimum of 10 lbs.
- Ability to sit for extended periods, stand walk, type, carry, push, and bend.
- Ability to work primarily indoors in an office environment with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
- Ability to work onsite Monday through Friday
