Knovva Academy is looking for a Youth Researcher to join our team and support our work in primary and secondary research to understand youth populations that are disengaged from school or work opportunities. We are happy to hear from you if your expertise is in adult or adolescent development, youth engagement, and/or community-based research. 


Position Overview: 


The Youth Researcher is a part-time role housed within Knovva Academy’s Consultancy Department and will collaborate with other team members to research Opportunity Youth in the United States.  Opportunity Youth is a term that refers to young people, aged 16-24, who are disengaged from school or work opportunities. The researcher will take a critical role in assessing  current resources, needs, and prospective opportunities to support Opportunity Youth in a designated region. 

To understand and support Opportunity Youth, the Youth Researcher will: 

  • Collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze population and relevant labor data in designated areas
  • Conduct and write literature reviews on relevant work-force development policy and programming
  • Conduct interviews with partners and staff working with youth and workforce development
  • Research and identify regional service providers for workforce development and youth engagement 
  • Collaborate with other research team members to inform research processes and data collection tools
  • Synthesize data from primary and secondary sources for external and internal reporting 

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in Education, Social Work, Public Policy, Public Health, or similar field; graduate students will be considered with relevant professional experience 
  • 3 - 5 years of relevant work experience 
  • Working knowledge of needs assessments at the community or regional level preferred
  • Experience working with Opportunity Youth is preferred
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, pay attention to details, and take initiative

The Youth Researcher is a 1099 contractor and remote position. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Must be authorized to work in the United States; sponsorship is not being offered at this time.
