Wine, Beer, Food Knowledge is required to assist both retail and restaurant guests to suit their needs/requests.
TIPS and Food Service Training a plus.

Knowles Station Wine & Co. is currently seeking a qualified Assistant Manager for an immediate opening in
Kensington, MD. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of retail and restaurant/bar management experience
and familiarity with the standards and best practices of a contemporary beverage operation.
This job is perfect for someone who is warm and welcoming, has a passion to expand their knowledge of wine
and craft beers, and can develop positive relationships with consumers and colleagues. The Assistant Manager
assists the General Manager in handling all aspects of the operations to create and maintain a memorable
experience for the guests.
DUTIES
Knowledge of wine and craft beers, and can assist consumers in acquiring beverage selections based
on their individual tastes and budget.
Handle routine sales transactions which include operating cash register and accounting of daily
bar/restaurant sales.
Work closely and cooperatively with the General Manager to maintain a diverse, dynamic, and
profitable beverage program
Maintain appropriate levels of inventory and purchasing for a combination on/off premise wine bar
and retail store
Support the General Manager in booking events for the Private Dining Room
Manage the FOH staff during service periods and promote hospitality and exceptional guest
experiences
Develop strong relationships with wine and beer purveyors.
Develop a weekly wine tasting calendar, secure commitments from wine vendors, Identify wines for
the tastings, and set up the tasting space.
Suggest wine themes to serve as part of the weekly Wednesday Wine Flight event.
Assist with display and stocking of retail items and wines.
Assist with hospitality special events as needed.
Represent Knowles Station at outside functions as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
At least 4 years of experience in the hospitality industry and previous experience in Food and Beverage
management, scheduling and staffing.
A curiosity and enthusiasm for wine & beer
Proficient on the computer (familiar with POS systems, Microsoft Office, inventory management)
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Excellent presentation skills.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
Professional appearance and demeanor
Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
A strong instinct for hospitality and service; excellent customer service skills

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods as required by job duties
Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs on a regular basis
Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
