JOB SUMMARY:
The Facilitator is the on-site coach, trainer, motivator, and expeditor of materials and personnel. He is encouraged to do this in a team spirit to promote employee motivation.
Develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards. Recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls. Coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products. Provides managerial support consistent with accepted industry levels.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Facilitator covers the entire mill; both paper machines, saturator line, finishing room and rewinder area.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
SAFETY:
Support the written Safety Program that facilitates continuous improvement in the severity and frequency of accidents, resulting in no Lost Time Accidents and ensuring the safety of all employees.
- Safety is the first priority.
- The Facilitator will obligate subordinates to direct and enforce the Safety Program.
- Require and validate that all personnel are exposed to and participate in a monthly, formalized safety meeting, as well as are instructed of changes or additions to safety practices and procedures.

PRODUCTION:
- Ensures that set-up instruction, job procedures, self directed notes and all job information is available before the start of a job.
- Ability to keep a detailed shift log.
- Reacts quickly to a shortage of material, packaging and/or marking.
- The day Facilitator records and reports values for water, electric and gas.
- Ensures that new employees are fully trained, training records are recorded and passed on to the Training Coordinator for filing with the personnel department.
- Studies production schedules and standard production rates quality and discusses with operators to ensure that quality and production standards are maintained.
- Interprets company policies and Collective Bargaining Agreement to employees and enforces safety regulations and company rules.
- May recommend changes to improve production methods, equipment performance or product quality.
- Works with crews to analyze and resolve work problems.
- Work on special assignments such as inventory or monthly reports, but not limited to assignments that are personally assigned to him/her.
- Responsible for cleanliness of mill.
- Other duties as necessary to maintain safety, quality and production.
- Responsible for procedures and documents used to describe appropriate job functions within the Quality Management System and others deemed necessary by the employee’s Supervisor.
- Responsible for assisting with outside contractors and/or consultants.
- Drives EOD’s throughout Departments.
PROCESS IMPROVEMENT
- Understand and drive OEE results.
- Be able to research improvements, present plans, and train on improvements in manufacturing processes, methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement and efficiency.
- Assists the Operations Manager and Supervisors in improving a system of production control, standard operating procedures, safety, quality control and training.
- Evaluates and develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment.
- Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements and equipment layout.
- Aids in the development of standards and confirms manufacturing processes.
- Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Provides manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests.
- Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.
- Develop and implement measuring plans and systems to verify engineering changes for improved production efficiencies, manufacturing capability, Safety, and Quality.
QUALITY:
Supports, maintains and continually improves Knowlton Technologies, LLC Quality Management System in accordance with requirements of the IATF 16949 International Standard. Employee has the role and responsibility to follow the work instructions and Current Best Practices that support the KT Value Stream Maps.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques.
- Ability to think ahead and plan over a 3-6 months’ time span.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
- Employee training.
- Technical skills in manufacturing processes and methods including flow, layout, assembly and production equipment.

- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, Infrastructure engineering symbols and language, understand piping and instrumentation diagrams, layouts, and commonly accepted practices

- Computer assisted design (CAD) proficiency.
- Computer proficiency.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
