Description
The Business Development Manager leads the sales efforts to sustain business performance by adding and retaining new customers to achieve set revenue goals. This role will be responsible for partnering with the National Business Development Leader on our sales strategy as well as introducing our services and educating prospects and customers. This position requires self-motivation, goal oriented and dependable attributes in order to maintain on-going relationships and monitor activities with customers and prospects. The successful candidate must have integrity, vision, drive, and interpersonal skills to succeed. This role will be remote or home based in one of our preferred locations; Green Bay, Wichita, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Chicago, South Carolina, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, or Tennessee.
What You Will Do In Your Role
- Develop and maintain business relationship with consistent engagement across the supply chain with multiple prospects and clients
- Build sales plans and strategies that support the business’s vision, goals and priorities
- Participate in face-to-face client meetings; visiting with customers and potential clients
- Use business development skills to identify, qualify, obtain and develop new sales revenue
- Collaborate with internal departments to provide successful transportation/logistics solutions and pricing to clients/prospects
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure ongoing success of accounts
- Strategically source freight from customers to provide back haul for dedicated fleets
- Deliver information with strong customer service skills
- Make intuitive decisions about market conditions that drive advantaged cost structures
- Succeed at pricing & service negotiations with customers
- Consult with clients and prospects to understand needs/challenges and goals and effectively communicate to internal partners
- Develop innovative solutions that deliver value and support the customer’s business strategy
- Utilize analytical skills to resolve service/operational issues between customers and carriers
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously with a sense of urgency
- Maintain and update accurate information in the company’s operating systems
- Potential to build a successful sales organization from the ground up
The Experience You Will Bring
Requirements:
- 3 years of business to business sales experience OR 3 years of related business to business customer-facing experience
- Experience in selling, opening and management of accounts
- Experience in Microsoft Office Software, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
- Willing and able to travel up to 50%
- Valid US Driver’s License
What Will Put You Ahead
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in business and 5 years of applicable outside sales experience in Transportation/Logistics/Supply Chain
- Previous experience in a leadership role or experience leading project teams
- Possess advanced knowledge of logistical concepts and supply chain terminology
- Previous experience working in Koch Industries companies and/or with Koch Industries customers
- Experience with Account Based Marketing software
- CRM software expertise
