Your Job
The Lead Operations Engineer is primarily responsible for identifying and implementing plant improvement projects to help optimize unit performance. The Lead Operations Engineer will provide innovative solutions that will create competitive advantage for our business and are consistent with the company EHS and stewardship goals.
Our Team
As a Lead Operations Engineer, you are a member of the Process Technical Team. The Technical team is dedicated to being the technical leaders that drive the highest value solution for our company. You will be joining a team of 9 chemical engineers dedicated to the troubleshooting, optimization, and design improvement of our units.
What You Will Do
- Contribute to personal and team culture development regarding the understanding and practice of Principle-Based Management
® - Drive the Operations Vision
- Assist with the development of entry level engineers through strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring
- Provide process support and lead unit improvement projects
- Identify improvements to support business strategy
- Assist in process optimization to maximize production rates, product quality and yield
- Utilize innovative tools/technology to embed technical process knowledge and sustain optimization of process units collaborating with Console Engineers, Console Operators and Process Transformation Engineers
- Use data analysis to validate raw material and energy usage
- Support environmental and PSM programs with applicable technical knowledge/skills
- Provide assistance to operations during plant turnarounds, emergency operations
- Lead or participate in investigations, root cause analysis and resolution of incidents as assigned
- Support project execution teams in developing scopes of work that create value for the site
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- 5 years of Process Engineering in a refinery or petrochemical facility
- Previous experience with analyzing data and using data analytics programs or predictive analytics tools
- Previous experience troubleshooting equipment issues and facilitating Root Cause Analysis, Cause Mapping, Root Cause Failure Analysis and Failure Mode Cause Analysis
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar field
- Previous experience leading and developing a team of engineers through coaching and mentoring
- Must have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship
What Will Put You Ahead
- Previous experience with anomaly detection software, OSI PI, and SeeQ
- Previous experience with PRD design and validation
- Previous experience with ASPEN process modeling simulation/Fathom/Arrow
- Previous experience with RCFA or investigation leader
