Millwright Maintenance Technician
Georgia-Pacific's Albany, OR Chemical Facility is seeking a qualified individual to join its manufacturing team as a Millwright Maintenance Technician. This position creates value by ensuring reliability of equipment to help meet and exceed the facility's goals for quality and production by inspecting, troubleshooting, and diagnosing mechanical related problems on all manufacturing equipment where hazardous chemicals are present in accordance with plant policies and procedures. This is a Monday-Friday Day shift position which could occasionally include overtime, weekends, on-call, and holidays.

What You Will Do In Your Role
- Utilizing GP supplied tools and equipment to troubleshoot/repair/test mechanical equipment (rotating and fixed), such as pumps, blowers, fans, valves, and piping systems
- Working with Supervisors, Maintenance personnel, and Operations to plan, procure and document activities for the improvement of maintenance systems and equipment within the facility
- Conducting mechanical maintenance activities associated with the preventative/predictive maintenance program as well as repair/rebuild of mechanical equipment throughout the plant. Including installation of new equipment and project support as assigned
- Sharing knowledge with other technicians/operators and staff as it relates to maintaining and troubleshooting plant equipment
- Keeping plant equipment in good working order consistent with company policies, equipment manuals and good engineering practices
- Applying all applicable codes, regulations, reliability strategies, corporate and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards
- Improving operations productivity and quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning, and coordination of labor, parts, material, tools, and equipment access
- Reviewing, developing, and/or modifying work orders for all plant equipment and entering work orders into the facility maintenance system
- Contacting vendors and manufacturers as needed for support in issue resolution
- Expediting repairs of critical equipment to minimize downtime
- Providing feedback to the maintenance supervisor/planner for assigned and completed work
- Executing and improving the lubrication/oil sampling program
- Adhering to all plant health, safety, and environments guidelines, policies, and procedures by wearing necessary Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
- Performing tasks such as pulling, pushing, and lifting up to 50 lbs., as well as walking, climbing, including stairs and ladders, stooping, and standing
The Experience You Will Bring
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in industrial mechanical maintenance/repair within a manufacturing, production, industrial, farming or military environment OR five (5) years of operations experience working in a Georgia Pacific chemical plant
- Experience interpreting documents such as rules, technical procedures, operating and maintenance instructions and other procedure manuals
What Will Put You Ahead
- Experience working with pipes, e.g.: welding, cutting, bending, threading of various materials of construction, e.g.: carbon steel, stainless steel, PVC, etc.
- Experience maintaining, replacing, repairing and rebuilding pumps, bearings and seals
- Experience with laser alignment and other precision measuring tools
- Experience using a Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or another system for tracking preventative maintenance
- Experience operating a forklift
- Experience using a computer or tablet for documentation and/or record keeping functions
