Description
DEPCOM Power is looking for a Sr Solar Engineer to join the Generation and Power Systems Engineering (GPSE) team. This individual will support the company's Repowering business efforts. Repowering is DEPCOM's brand name for its business unit that specializes in Repowering and/or Restoring existing utility scale photovoltaic (PV) power plants.
This team replaces damaged or antiquated power conversion equipment. In addition, the team adds expansions and/or replaces older PV modules or racking with new modules. This individual will work closely with DEPCOM's Business Development Leads to provide technical solutions that satisfy the client's needs in the most cost-efficient manner. This position reports to the Director of Electrical Engineering, as a valuable member of the company's internal Project Design Engineering function.
This is a remote role with 25% travel to project sites or to company offices located in NJ, AZ or CA.
What You Will Do In Your Role
- Crafting solutions, preparing scopes of work, performing site assessments to support the business development efforts
- Preparation of electrical permitting and construction plans for solar, storage or repowering facilities
- Preparation of electrical calculations including, but not limited to, load flow, grounding, protective device coordination, arc flash, ampacity or others as required
- Prepare product specifications and procurement support
- Prepare bill of materials and scope of work documents for subcontract execution
- Partner with construction team during execution by responding to owner, subcontractor or field RFI's
- Conduct cost/benefit analyses for various cable constructions, grounding schemes and major equipment
- Execute designs in accordance with DEPCOM's standard engineer procedures and deliverables
- Coordinate with DEPCOM SME's to deliver racking solutions
- Partner with and mentor other members of the DEPCOM GPSE Team
- Support the Sr Director with new energy projects as needed
The Experience You Will Bring
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering
- Photovoltaic (PV) Solar design and engineering experience
- Experience and understanding of electrical design calculations, including load flow, short circuit, protective device coordination, arc flash (AC &DC), ground grid analysis, and ampacity calculations
- Experience working with and knowledge of National Electrical Code, National Electrical Safety Code and NFPA 70E
What Will Put You Ahead
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering
- Experience working for an EPC
- Experience in energy storage applications or understand how to integrate into existing utility scale solar
- Professional Engineer P.E. License
- Experience with power systems software suites such as SKM, AmpCalc, CymCap, GroundMAT, etc.

For this role, we anticipate paying $140,000-$170,000K per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
