The role of the Youth Department Director is to build teams and oversee the children’s ministry strategy of Koinonia Christian Center Church (KCC) under the direction of senior leadership. This will require a firm grasp of the beliefs, values and strategy of KCC and the ability to align staff and key leadership teams with its mission, vision and values. The Youth Department Director will partner with parents to lead kids to a genuine sense of belonging, involvement and spiritual growth at KCC by meeting kids where they are and leading them to next steps. The Youth Department Director will facilitate relational connection and spiritual growth of kids through weekend environments, small groups, and volunteer teams 


Modeling Biblical Priorities: 

  • Committing to a daily quiet-time with God. 
  • Participating in life groups on a regular basis.  
  • Setting appropriate boundaries to protect character and integrity.  
  • Developing personal evangelism opportunities within and outside the church.  
  • Demonstrating adherence to the biblical principal of tithing (by faithfully giving at least 10% of gross income). 
  • Adhering to and encompassing the qualities and characteristics required of KCC staff as defined by the Staff Handbook. 

 

Leading Staff and Volunteer Ministry Teams: 

  • Communicating clear vision and successes to staff and volunteer ministry teams on a regular basis 
  • Building systems and structures that lead people from being spectators to volunteers. 
  • Overseeing systems for background checks, safety and security procedures, scheduling, training and care of volunteers. 
  • Leading staff and volunteer meetings as needed  
  • Championing the children’s ministry leadership development strategy and facilitate centralized efforts for training leaders (retreats, tools, etc.)  
  • Providing staff and volunteer teams with current children’s ministry best practices. 
  • Ensuring that the children’s ministry team answers questions and provides excellent customer service to parents and kids on a consistent basis.  
  • Providing regular evaluations, feedback, and growth opportunities (training, team building, etc) for team members.  
  • Facilitate innovation by staying abreast of new developments and research in the field of Children's ministry. 

 

Coordinating Ministry to Children and their Families: 

  • Creating and continuously improving follow-up methods to ensure that kids and their families are plugged in to the church 
  • Producing videos, weekly scripts and lessons, printed promotions, verbal announcements, web page information, marketing, etc. about the kid’s ministry. 
  • Send regular (at least) monthly updates and/or newsletters and regular communication to parents of children in the Youth Department.  
  • Manage the implementation and use of appropriate curriculums and educational programs for holistic development of the children.   
  • Develop, promote and coordinate a balanced program of activities and discipleship ministry to youth. 
  • Train and involve youth and youth leaders in outreach programs to reach unsaved youth and mentor saved youth. 
  • Organize creative outreach opportunities for youth, beyond that of regular weekly worship encounters. 
  • Plan yearly youth emphasis (i.e. specific Sundays to lead, retreats, etc.) to involve youth in areas of church leadership. 
  • Be available to provide counsel to children and parents as needed. 
  • Be available to parents to discuss issues related to their child or youth ministry. 
  • Selecting relevant curriculum, props, and games for weekend experiences.  Experience with Orange Curriculum is preferred.
  • Ensuring that check-in areas, ministry spaces and signage are clear, current and focused on kids and their families.
