JOB DESCRIPTION
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Good moral character and integrity with a commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
2. Emotional maturity and a combination of qualifying age and experience for the role in accordance with state law
3. Love of children and youth and ability to understand their needs and interests.
4. Ability and experience preferred, in the supervision of other staff.
5. Commitment to the achievement of the mission of WNCC via the objectives of YAS & Koinonia ministries
6. Organizational and administrative skills
7. Familiar with state statutes regarding childcare.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Recruit, select, train and assign all camp employees in cooperation with the Youth Director.
2. Establish and maintain positive relationships with staff, campers, parents.
3. Supervise counselors in developing and carrying out of camp objectives, policies, and programs.
4. Coordinate, under supervision of the Youth Director, the summer ministries of the Camp, maintaining open communication between KECC & Camp
5. Supervise development of procedures, routines and practices for summer camps.
6. Plan and supervise all off-grounds activities of Koinonia and YAS Day Camps.
7. Plan and implement staff training.
8. Insure summer camps are in compliance with state and local requirements.
9. Implement a Counselor in Training Program for youth that have completed Grade 9.
SUPERVISION/EVALUATION:
The KYC Camp Director is an employee of WNCC and directly accountable to the Youth Director, who reports to the
Lead Pastor. A verbal performance evaluation will be completed by September 1 and be submitted to the Pastor by the
Youth Director.
DATES OF EMPLOYMENT/SALARY:
1. Employment will be for the 6 week camp season, plus the equivalent of two weeks prior to camp startup. This should be used to conduct interviews, staff training, planning curriculum including field trips. This time can begin upon hiring. In addition, two full days to complete camp related tasks when camp ends for the summer.
2. Hourly rate or salary will be negotiated.
3. All deductions are made in compliance with federal and state laws.
GENERAL PROVISIONS:
It is understood that the success of any camp is dependent on a servant heart, and that no job description can completely address all the tasks needed each day. Therefore the employee is expected from time-to-time to undertake responsibilities asked by one’s supervisor which are important to the operation of the camp, though not specifically addressed in this description.
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
