Summary:
- Inspect the smoothness / profile of asphalt pavements to assure compliance to the plans and specifications
- Analyze collected data to calculate profile results, identify areas for corrective action, and determine applicable pay factors.
- This work will require close coordination with Kokosing Team Members and project personnel.
- Applicant must be willing to travel to various project locations from Central to Northern Ohio and work in an outdoor environment, occasionally at night.
- This position will require working overtime hours when needed, primarily during the peak construction season (April thru November).
- This position is to work both in the field performing field testing on roadway and bridge construction projects and in the office analyzing collected data.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- After completion of technical training, this role will perform onsite quality assurance and profile testing on roadway and bridge construction projects to ensure compliance to the project plans, specifications, and related documents.
- Interpret contents of the contract specifications and plans and effectively communicate that interpretation to ODOT personnel, Kokosing team members, and others.
- Document the progress of daily work on a daily report, and provide measurements and calculations for the daily work items completed.
- Utilize Kokosing’s electronic file system using SharePoint to access and store contract documents, analyzed data, and necessary documents for submission.
- Perform additional tasks as required for Kokosing's Estimators and Project Engineers.
Education, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience with asphalt pavement construction or an Associates or Bachelors in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related degree is a plus
- Familiarity with paving practices, ODOT specifications, and pavement profiling tools are a plus
- Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications
- A solid understanding of basic construction concepts
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and a solid knowledge of mathematics
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- A good driving record is required
- Ability to work outside, at construction project sites, in various weather conditions
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds repetitively
- Ability to work occasional overtime, weekends, and occasionally travel within Central and Northern Ohio
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must have effective communication and organizational skills
- Exemplify safe work practices and follow the company's compliance standards
- Motivated self-starter
