Job Overview
The Project Manager-Drills develops project plans, schedules and budgets for projects based on the Blasthole Drill business unit strategy and resources and delivers actionable insights from a project level that the organizational stakeholders need to know.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Ensures the completion of project deliverables, milestones, and tollgates. Holds project teams accountable to published project scope, schedules, and budgets.
- Drives Business Unit compliance to Komatsu Mining Technologies (KMT) R&D, New Product Development (NPD) and New Product Introduction (NPI) processes within the context of assigned projects. Completes required documentation, and captures lessons learned for process, tool, and product improvement.
- Schedules, prepares content and leads all major project milestone and tollgate reviews. Updates Sr. Management and stakeholders on project progress and issues.
- Promotes teamwork and transparent communication within the project teams to build a common understanding of requirements and expectations.
- Conducts project team meetings and ensures that all design reviews include cross-functional stakeholders.
- Creates and maintains product cost targets and models.
- Uses the principles of risk management to guide project decisions and communication.
- Drives project decisions by following SLQDC priority.
- Develops and track all project deliverables to include the creation of drawings, BOMS, routings, work instructions, etc.
- Utilizes PPM Pro project managing software to track all projects.
- Supports ISO Audit compliance work/audits.
- Tracks critical success factors for projects (i.e.: product cost targets, functional requirements, etc.).
- Travels as required (up to 20%) to support team alignment, communication and project management. Most common destinations include Longview, TX: Tucson, AZ: Sudbury, Ontario; Lyon, France; Osaka, Japan and customer sites in North America.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing or Engineering related field preferred (Mechanical, Electrical, Software)
- 3-5 years project management experience required
- PMP Certification Preferred
- Advanced time management and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
