Kent Holdings is seeking a Financial Controller. We are a fast-growing, multinational leader in the marine water sports and biking industries. The position can be a semi-remote opportunity with routine interaction with our Washington employees combined with intermittent travel to additional company locations and our Corporate Headquarters in Ohio. You will work with and manage a professional, experienced accounting team. The position reports to the CFO and General Managers and works closely with our Corporate Controller and Director of Finance and Accounting. We are looking for a candidate that has obtained their CPA license and has at least five years of experience and is familiar with a retail environment.

Position and Job Description:

The Controller position is accountable for the accounting operations of the company, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and tax reporting.

Principal Accountabilities:

Management

  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives
  • Oversee the accounting operations, especially control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures.

Transactions

  • Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
  • Ensure that accounts receivables are collected promptly
  • Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed.
  • Ensure that inventory accounts are reconciled monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions

Reporting

  • Provide weekly and monthly requisite reporting to lenders.
  • Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts for controlled business units
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
  • Provide timely financial statements to the internal and external sources
  • Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations

Compliance

  • Assist in providing information and support for both the annual audit and the semiannual bank collateral verification
  • Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings

This role is integral to the success of our brands and requires close partnership with our General Managers. The ideal candidate has proven operations experience partnering with General Managers or executive teams on strategy, growth, operations, and sales.

The ideal candidate also has extensive retail experience - both in wholesale selling to big-box retailers and in direct-to-consumer/web sales, as well as experience managing highly seasonal cash flow cycles during rapid growth.

Strong experience is required in forecasting cash flow and overseeing inventory planning, as well as proactively managing customer and vendor relationships including negotiating favorable terms.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
