What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plant Laborer position at Koppers Inc.?
Job description
- Obeys the "General Rules for All Employees" at all times.
- Complies with all plant administrative rules.
- Complies with all applicable operating procedures.
- Obeys the plant safety rules.
- Assists in banding bundles of ties.
- As directed operates the endplater and pandrol equipment
- Inspects hand tools for defects and reports any findings.
- As required assists in performing preventive maintenance.
- Performs ground and building maintenance.
- Collects and disposes or yard waste material.
- Assists in repair of tracks.
- Properly labels all materials being handled.
- Removes cables and chains from trams.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Complies with all SH&E regulations, policies and procedures.
- Promptly reports all injuries, unsafe conditions, spills and releases.
- Wears all personal protective equipment (PPE) required by the job.
- Completes all SH&E inspections as assigned.
- Works safely with and around hazardous materials/hazardous waste.
- Promptly reports and cleans up all drippage in Treated Wood Storage Yard.
- Performs required housekeeping activities.
- Must pass pre-employment medical screening.
- Must be medically cleared to wear required respiratory protection and can demonstrate a good face to facepiece seal when a respirator is required.
- Authorized as a confined space attendant or entrant.
- Trained as authorized personnel or affected personnel for lockout/tagout.
- Demonstrates acceptable retention level for the required training elements.
- Trained to handle hazardous waste.
