Senior Product Manager, Video Player

Job Description:

Our client, a media/entertainment company, is looking to add a Senior Program Manager to their team! The Senior Product Manager (Video Player) will be working on a set of centralized web, Apple, and Android video players that are used across a number of the company's media properties. Working on a shared platform, this role will collaborate with product managers across the organization to understand the business needs of various brands and will work to drive consensus across those brands in support of a platform approach.

Qualifications:

• 5 years of product management experience


• Strong communication and presentation skills, ability to collaborate across disciplines, and comfort working in an agile software development environment


• Direct experience with streaming video products, including either consumer-facing applications or internal technical platforms, with a strong preference given to candidates who have managed video players before


• Experience working with Conviva or another Quality of Experience (QoE) platform


• This role requires familiarity with a broad range of technical video topics including video playback and UI, MVPD authentication, advertising, analytics, content protection (DRM), and quality of experience.


• This role will focus on three primary themes of work:

1. The continued consolidation of legacy video players onto a centralized solution


2. Product enhancements and new features that drive user engagement and satisfaction


3. The implementation and application of Quality of Experience (QoE) tools to measure and improve technical video performance (startup time, startup errors, playback errors, bitrate issues, rebuffering rates, etc.)

Responsibilities:

• Act as the day-to-day product owner for scrum teams.


• Write user stories and documentation, coordinate with design and engineering on feature development, perform user acceptance testing, and communicate with stakeholders on progress.


• Partner with business stakeholders, research teams, and product and design teams to ideate on new features for the roadmap.


• Integrate quantitative analytics data and qualitative user feedback to inform product features.


• Translate big ideas into actionable product requirements.


• Monitor video engagement and performance using analytics platforms such as Adobe Analytics and Conviva.


• Construct narrative presentations using data.
