JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Financial Controller will lead the accounting staff for a large manufacturing operation in the cement
industry. The controller is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of an assigned range of financial data
that appears in the company’s financial statements. The controller position requires a strong
understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The position requires an exceptional
attention to detail, understanding of the general ledger and the ability to utilize a variety of software.
Strong written & verbal communication skills are also necessary to effectively communicate with
employees at all levels.
JOB DUTIES:
- Manage monthly financial closing process
- Manage annual budget preparation
- Coordinate monthly reforecast submission
- Preparation & submission of monthly financial statements and reports
- Provide training to accounting and other personnel
- Research and resolve accounting & system issues
- Insure balance sheet integrity through review and analysis of general ledger accounts
- Coordination of SOX & financial audits with internal & external auditors
- Capital project justification, monitoring of spending & fixed asset record keeping
- Involvement with operational & sales initiatives
- Profitability and performance analysis
- Direction and supervision of accounting staff
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business-related area
- 7 years of experience in a combination of public accounting and industry (manufacturing
experience preferred) - 4 years of supervisory experience
- Computer skill set to include experience with an integrated accounting software package, (Microsoft Dynamics SL and FRX preferred)
- Intermediate level of competency with MS Excel
- Must be well-organized, attentive to detail and possess solid interpersonal communications
skills - CPA or CMA certification preferred
