GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Assistant Store Manager is responsible for making sure that the daily operations of a retail outlet runsmoothly by supporting staff on the sales floor and handling administrative duties.
Their duties includeinspecting inventory shipments, resolving customer complaints and training new team members.
Assistant Managers work at stores where they help implement consistent workplace procedures and make it easy for customers to make purchases.
Retail Assistant Managers work closely with the StoreManager to track employee productivity, customer satisfaction and other metrics for success. They help write the staff schedule, process shift change requests and track absences. They manage store inventory, document defective or damaged items and determine when to order more of different kinds of items.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the store manager in realizing or exceeding determined sales plans and target metric
objectives.
Ensure consistent execution of company’s marketing and visual presentation.
Set up advertising displays and arrange merchandise on counter or tables to promote sales.
Train staff on how to drive sales through consistent development of product knowledge and
customer service standards.
Ensure compliance to policies and procedures and report concerns to senior management.
Maintain proper inventory controls, facilitate inventory transaction and bulk count as guided by senior management.
Ensure the store is secured at closing by checking if the doors are locked, alarms are set, and all safes are locked.
Assistant managers assist the store manager, performing all job tasks as assigned.
Open and Close Store
Assistant managers complete store opening and closing procedures multiple times per week.
Maintain Store Appearance
At all times, The Assistant manager keeps the store organized, clean, and attractive to
customers.
Manage Staff
Assistant managers oversee the store sales team and other staff members. This includes
supervising employees, delegating tasks, evaluating employee performance, managing staff
problems, and designing work schedules.
Manage Store Inventory
Assistant managers maintain knowledge of all products available in the store and know the store layout. They manage inventory by ordering new supplies as needed and maintaining order in thestock room. Once shipments come in, retail assistant managers place merchandise on the sales
floor, add price tags, and scan items into the digital inventory system. They also stage store salesdisplays.
Tend to Customers
Assistant managers greet incoming customers, answer phone calls, and address customer
complaints. When customers are ready to check out, assistant managers operate the register to complete sales and collect payments.
Keep daily records of store sales, damages, deposit log, scheduling, employee discount and new
hire paperwork.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Good analytical and math skills to create and analyze reports, sales statistics and spreadsheets.
Strong customer service skills since this is a customer-oriented job.
Excellent leadership skills and ability to work with teams.
Good communication and interpersonal skills towards customers, staff members and store
managers.
Great attention to detail for purposes of erecting attractive marketing displays, arranging
merchandise and maintaining store appearance.
Ability to lift heavy merchandise, walk and stand for long hours.
Outstanding sales abilities to sell items to customers.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
