The Role:
- Ensures that EPA, State agencies, RCRA, TSCA, and DOT Regulations are followed.
- Prepares annual budget for each department.
- Maintains cost controls by taking appropriate corrective action when costs are not within acceptable limits.
- Puts in place and monitors programs to ensure proper waste sampling, treatment, and disposal.
- Monitors and takes corrective action when necessary for proper management of leachate collection, storage, and disposal.
- Monitors progress and completion of capital projects in areas of responsibility.
- Develops personnel and equipment requirements for new or improved operating processes.
- Ensures personnel are properly trained on health and safety matters, as well as proper procedures for waste treatment, tracking and disposal.
- Monitors for compliance with Corporate and Facility safety and compliance regulations and takes corrective action when needed.
- Reference site-specific procedures and more detailed site-specific job descriptions.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise employees in the Stabilization, Landfill, Bio pad, Wheel Wash Facility, Bulk Sampling, Leachate Biological Waste Water Treatment, Arsenic Treatment, Macro-encapsulation, Thermal Desorption, and facilities maintenance departments. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Direct supervision of 5 full-time employees, including:
- Indirect supervision of 5 full-time employees.
Requirements
Education and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (accredited), or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four (4) years of relevant work experience.
- Experience: Seven (7) years of related experience (in addition to education requirements).
