What are the responsibilities and job description for the Major Deals Portfolio Manager/Senior Manager position at KPMG Australia?
We are seeking high-performing individuals to join the Deal Enablement & Review Board (DE&RB) Delivery Governance Team. Your Opportunity
Reporting to the DE&RB Delivery Governance lead, you will own the firm’s major deals portfolio of programs and monitor and manage the risk during the delivery lifecycle. The role will work closely with the KPMG divisional governance forums and engagement leaders to support the delivery risk management processes and mitigation strategies throughout the lifecycle of the program. This role will utilise your Service Delivery, Technical, financial & stakeholder management skills and leverage your services knowledge to deliver business value to KPMG and our clients. You will analyse and assess new major deals that should be part of the Major Deals Portfolio and firms’ delivery governance, hence protecting the KPMG Brand and reputation.
Key responsibilities of this role would include:
- Monitor & Manage portfolio-level risks, including assessing risk exposure and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Execute Major deals risk management processes and strategies and evaluate for continuous improvements to enhance the firm’s ability to handle major deals.
- Assess and prioritise deals in the Major Deals portfolio based on alignment with strategic objectives.
- Work with the Divisional Risk forums and governance bodies to create a cohesive risk profile of a major deal
- Ensure alignment of Major deals in the portfolio with strategic goals and continuously assess their fit with evolving business strategy.
- Conduct thorough due diligence to gather information and insights about the deal, such as financial statements, legal contracts, market research, and other relevant data
- Develop strategies and plans to mitigate and manage identified risks.
- Initiate program intervention plans to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with the Engagement Leaders to make critical portfolio decisions, adjust priorities, allocate resources, and address issues or conflicts.
- Assess the financial health and implications of the deal, including revenue projections, cost structures, cash flow, and potential financial risks.
- Ensure clear and comprehensive records of risk assessments, mitigation plans, and actions taken to manage risks
- Collaborate with KPMG Finance or Project Controller to build & review program P&L and other critical financial performance metrics
- Prepare portfolio reporting view for executive management and other stakeholders to provide visibility into the portfolio's performance, risks, and financial status

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills enable an individual to work in a fast-moving, highly collaborative culture.
- A strong service delivery management / large program management or project management experience is essential for this role
- Ideally, working experience with large Technology Systems Integration/ outsourcing organisations but not essential
- Confident with working at a senior executive stakeholder level and delivering succinct messages that can be consumed quickly by internal and external stakeholders.
- Drive, professional attitude, proactive self-starter with a collaborative team player approach
- Confident working with technical solution teams and operating in matrix organisations with a willingness/confidence to challenge but also stepping into areas outside of your natural comfort zone.
