Business Development Manager - Healthcare Renovation/Construction Services

The Construction Services Business Unit Manager is responsible for building relationships with Healthcare clients and other industries with a strong desire to grow the business nationwide.
The Business Unit Executive is for all Business Unit activities for their unit. Leading by example, the Business Unit Manager will ensure all work is compliant, executed within the established guidelines, budgets, and provide exceptional client service to build Business Unit revenue. Success will be measured by the Business Unit Manager's ability to procure new work, lead and motivate teams, and bring projects to completion on time and on budget.
The Business Unit Executive is responsible for building up Construction business opportunities by identifying new business prospects. They must maintain relationships with current clients and build and maintain relationships with new clients. They will also need to stay ahead of their competition and work on sharpening and improving their skills. You must be able to search out new business leads and trending industries. Communication skills are also vital to this job.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Business Unit Management:
  • Initiates new business opportunities with current client portfolio and new business development.
  • Maintains Business Unit customer relationship management tool in Quickbase.
  • Updates project status and completion date in the database on a weekly basis.
  • Work with Accounts Receivable to monitor Business Unit weekly/monthly billings and collections.
  • Reviews monthly financial and operational performance of the Business Unit and completes monthly business unit reports for review with management.
  • Leads team in a thoughtful and motivating manner. Sets and leads by example. Builds Business Unit team from Project Manager down.
  • Attend all mandatory company or client meetings.
  • Hold Weekly calls with the team.
  • Prepare and deliver weekly operational reports.
  • Manages marketing budget for the business unit.

Project Management:
  • Creates new projects in QuickBase by defining the scope of the project and forecast the proper amount of labor, material, and travel costs to successfully deliver company services for the project while maintaining set profit margins for the Business Unit.
  • Maintains communication with staff and/or vendors/subcontractors to provide project information to ensure that they have a complete understanding of the scope of work, along with the necessary tools/equipment/materials to successfully complete the project.
  • Generates and manages all project-related change orders with Director level oversight.
  • Oversees the review and approval of all timecards and expenses for each business unit project in the database.
  • Reviews project scope of work in tandem with customer-specific project completion process to ensure that all necessary inspection records and documentation have been completed by the field specialist and uploaded into the database.
  • Manages schedule and project to budget to ensure both are effectively maintained.
  • Ensures project quality is maintained to meet or exceed company standards.
  • Manage project close-out to ensure timely processing of invoices in accordance with guidelines.
  • Review and manage each project’s contract documents, drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
  • Procure and manage any vendors/subcontractors for each project, when in-house resources are not available.
  • Obtain any other project and/or client-required certifications as requested.

Scheduling:
  • Generates, manages, and schedules all project schedule requests through the database.
  • Works with interdepartmental teams to correctly update employee skill sets and confirm correct resources are scheduled for each project.
  • Alerts the Operations team of upcoming projects that may affect weekend, holiday, vacation requests or any other scheduling function in advance prior to project start or resource request.

Resources:
  • Assists Human Resources with employee retention providing effective and regular communication with your team of employees.
  • Works with Human Resources, Operations, and Senior Management to identify Business Unit resource planning.

Sales/Marketing:
  • Seeks opportunities to develop relationships with new and existing contacts.
  • Updates customer and client communication in the database.
  • Attends business unit-specific trade shows and events.
  • Provides quarterly project highlights with photos and project summary to marketing for promotion on the company website.

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma, or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.), or technical trade school equivalent preferred.
  • 7 years of progressive experience leading project teams.

Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. Must be able to speak, understand, read and write English.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to problem solve and think critically. Make sound decisions, and escalate matters quickly and efficiently.

Computer Skills:
Possess basic computer skills, including basic knowledge of MS Office Site. Must be able to quickly learn new computer programs, use the internet, and operate mobile devices.

PRE-REQUISITE Credentialing, Vaccine, and Training Requirements:
Employees are required to have the following credentials, vaccines, and training prior to being placed in this position:
  • Negative TB Test.
  • Negative 10 Panel Drug Test.
  • OSHA 10.

May Be Required:
  • MMR Vaccine.
  • Hepatitis B Vaccine Series.
  • Varicella Vaccine.
  • Tdap Vaccine.
  • Flu Vaccine.
  • Additional credentials, vaccines, and training may be required depending on customer demands.
Travel Requirements:
This position requires to travel up to 50% of the time, and may also require work or travel on weekends, nights, and evenings.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Physical Requirements:
This position requires the worker to sit at and navigate a computer workstation approximately 50% of the time. This position also requires travel to and from worksites, which may require long periods of time in a car, travel by airplane, or potentially other modes of public transportation. Employees must be able to travel with only reasonable accommodations when necessary.

Visual Acuity:
The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
Working Conditions:
The primary working environment is an indoor office setting. However, traveling to fieldwork sites is required frequently. Employees working in hazardous conditions and areas are required to comply with all applicable safety provisions and to use PPE. The working conditions when on worksites may include:
  • The worker is subject to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.
  • The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
  • The worker is subject to vibration. Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body.
  • The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat, or exposure to chemicals.
  • The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions. One or more of the following conditions affect the respiratory system of the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
  • The worker is frequently in close quarters, crawl spaces, shafts, manholes, small enclosed rooms, small sewage and line pipes, and other areas that could cause claustrophobia.
  • The worker is required to function in narrow aisles or passageways.
