JOB TITLE: Transportation Assistant
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position assists the Supervisor with daily transportation functions including resourcing and monitoring, completion of paperwork, and addressing employee and passenger relations issues. This position requires a CDL or willing to obtain one.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Dispatches vehicles and assigns drivers and monitors to routes
- Monitors and enforces compliance to transportation processes, policies and procedures
- Executes the Transportation budget in conjunction with the supervisor
- Maintain compliance with all U.S. Department of Transportation, State, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and school district regulations
- Manage driver qualification and background check document collection
- Facilitates the drug and alcohol screening program for safety sensitive positions
- Inputs and oversees all time and labor entries for department for supervisor approval
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
- Work experience as a Transportation Assistant or similar office role
- Good knowledge of payroll procedures
- Advanced MS Excel skills (creating spreadsheets and using financial functions)
- Organizational and time-management skills
- Attention to detail, with an ability to spot numerical errors
