What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fires Observer Instructor position at Kratos Defense?
This position will entail providing classroom and Simulator Fires Observer and Close Air Support instruction for Security Force individuals and UH-1N aircrew students.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Liaise with the Site Lead on all training, technical or mechanical issues.
- Instructs students on all AFGSC Fires Observer (FO) procedures in classroom and simulator operations.
- Assist with the writing, editing and update of the existing academic course curriculum and perform scheduled academic review sessions.
- Knowledge and ability to instruct AFGSC personnel on the JTAC-FAC(A) capabilities.
- Perform Ground Party Simulator (GPS) readiness tests on a daily basis.
- Supervises students during flight procedures and ground training. Instructs students on aircraft weapon effects, limitations, and proper Joint brevity terms
Record each student's progress in the grade book as required
Required Experience:
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 3 Years as a qualified USAF FO/JTAC, or other services Forward Observer/Fires Observer, USAF Security Forces within the Global Strike Command.
- Ability to teach Ground-to-Air Communication, Deconfliction of fires, Call for Fire
- Ability to obtain a secret clearance.
- Experience and technical knowledge of the following specific areas: JTAC procedures, Aerial Gunnery and weapons effects, Helicopter Operations, Night Systems, Ground Threat Reaction.
- Excellent Communication Skills and demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
- Must be fluent in English
DESIRED SKILL/EXPERIENCE:
- Existing, or current secret clearance
- Former AFGSC or AETC qualified UH-1N or ACC qualified MH-60G Flight Engineer, Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) Qualified.
- Knowledge and ability to teach AFGSC personnel air-to-ground communication, UH-1N capabilities and tactics, UH-1N tactics, fire support planning, weapons effects, JTAC-FAC(A) capabilities, non-JTAC procedures, ATAK/WaRTAK
