What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cinematography and Filmmaking Instructor position at Kre8ivU Multimedia Academy?
Teach video production to middle and high school students using non-linear video editing software. The teacher applicant should be knowledgeable about the video production process for artists, commercials, Foley, and ADR. Storyboarding, scriptwriting, lighting, and set design are all skills that should be mastered.
Working with students means maintaining a high-energy, fast-paced, and enjoyable environment. Patience and problem-solving skills are required. The instructor should be passionate about cinematography and filmmaking, love presenting engaging stories, be familiar with a wide range of genres, and be a great communicator with the students.
The class size will be between 8 and 25 people (an assistant will be assigned to larger classes). Lifting 25 pounds, pulling tables and chairs into place, sitting, standing, and setting up and taking down portable studio equipment are all required.
The instructor should be passionate about cinematography and filmmaking, love presenting engaging stories, be familiar with a wide range of genres, and be a great communicator with the students.
Demo/Portfolio/Samples:
Reels of professional productions of a short film, commercials, an artist(s), a band(s), and/or any professional commercial audio projects.
Skills:
Proficient in Video Production and knowledge in production, lighting, set design, storyboarding, storytelling, composition, video editing, various pro video cameras, and using smartphones.
Access/own the software/hardware:
Must own laptop windows or mac
Skills and Software Knowledge:
Required:
- Mastery of video production NLE's (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro)
- Lighting
- Storytelling
- Storyboarding
Pluses:
- Proficient in Music Production
- Familiar with these systems; Windows, Apple, Android, and IOS systems
Qualified candidates will possess the following:
- Advanced proficiency with NLE's
- Demonstrated advanced production experience based on commercial reels
- Understands all aspects of the video production process and is able to easily communicate with others
- Organized, exceptionally detail-oriented, focused, punctual, responsible and reliable
- Demonstrated visual arts skill (portfolio review will be part of the interview process)
- Experience teaching or working with kids is preferred (but not requires)
- An authentic "can do!" personality, as well as a natural tendency to be proactive and take the initiative
