KRGV-TV, Channel 5 News, the ABC Affiliate and #1 news station in the McAllen- Harlingen- Brownsville, Texas market (#85), has the following vacancy, an experienced: News Photographer
The successful candidate will be someone who has the ability to video record news events for our newscasts on Channel 5 News as well as our Spanish language Azteca America (digital 5.2). As a news photographer you will work with reporters to get complete stories and make any suggestions on how a story should be developed. Also the photographer will also edit video to match scripts prepared by reporters, producers or associate producers using on-location events or in one of our two news bureaus in McAllen and Brownsville, TX or at our station location in Weslaco, TX. As a news photographer you will also operate one of our live trucks or other equipment used in live transmissions such as Dejero or LiveU backpacks. Keeps assigned equipment and/or vehicle in good working condition. Must be able to lift heavy equipment up to 50 pounds, bend and set-up equipment for live news reports and breaking news events.
- Minimum of one to two years’ experience as a TV Video Photographer
- Must have non-linear editing experience.
- Detail oriented, able to follow directions, and ability to perform duties and make independent decisions under extreme pressure.
- Be able to work various shifts and times as well as during inclement weather such as Hurricanes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the internet, research skills are essential.
- Valid Texas Driver’s license with clean driving record, as driving a news vehicle daily to and from stories is an essential part of the daily routine.
- Ability to drive and handle all necessary equipment on a news live truck.
- Ability to work both as a team and independently.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
- Bilingual is helpful (Spanish/English)
