Application Analyst Description:

As an Application Analyst working on the warehouse management team, you will have responsibility for software that runs many Kroger distribution centers nationwide.  This role works across the warehousing team, Supply Chain and the KTD organization, and the business to perform analysis related to application enhancements and creating design documents for the WIN(Warehouse Inventory Network) and KEWM(Kroger Enterprise Warehouse Manager).  Activities also include collaboration with Product Management, analysis and definition of functional requirements, partnering with testers and support personnel on documentation and user training, and go-live/support phases of product & project implementation.   

 

Application Analyst Skills:

Must Have Technical:

  • Draw.io or similar flowcharting/diagram software
  • Data Modeling, experience with Erwin a plus

Other Skills:

  • Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher and Harness application experience would be a plus.
  • Familiarity with AIX shell or other command line utilities a plus.
  • SQL / relational database knowledge also a plus.
  • Practical warehouse experience would be helpful. Understanding the business side of things.
  • Understanding of Warehouse Automation
  • Ability to understand application interface designs to help ensure both Kroger and the external vendor (such as Dematic) are in sync.

General Skills:

  • Experience in an analytical or business/quality systems environment.
  • Knowledge of software configuration management and change management practices
  • Experience directly solving problems in or interacting with Professional Services, Product Management, Customer Support, SW Developers (R&D) or Project Management using tools, procedures, and programming languages. (C, Java, etc.)
  • Experience in testing, verification, validation, and certification of software.
  • Understanding software development lifecycle / implementation / role-out.
  • Great organizational skills.
  • Good communication skills for communicating with both the business in terms they understand and with our team in more technical terms.

Apply knowledge and skills to analyze, problem solve, configure, test, deploy, and support production applications of various size and complexity. Ensure security, compliance, and integrity of systems and data, and that assignments are delivered with the highest of quality and in accordance with standards. Essential Job Functions

  • Perform many tasks independently and communicate with appropriate teams
  • Partner with appropriate teams to deliver software solutions according to SDLC best practices
  • Partner with appropriate teams to expedite issue resolution within defined SLAs
  • Document the root cause of issues and implement improvements to prevent future recurrence
  • Support and maintain applications utilizing required tools and technologies
  • Provide support for applications during business hours and off-hours (24x7) as required
  • Ensure change control, support ticketing, and bug tracking processes are executed following defined standards
  • Establish priorities for application modifications in collaboration with key business stakeholders
  • Develop functional, design, and programming specifications for application enhancements
  • Complete estimates and work plans as appropriate for design, development, implementation and rollout tasks
  • Test application bug fixes, enhancements, and new software releases
  • Design, configure, code and unit test applications and utilities using SDLC best practices
  • Ensure security, compliance, and integrity of systems and data
  • Assist other personnel on assignments including mentoring or providing on-the-job training to other associates

  • Minimum Position Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5 years of experience in system analysis, design or programming and the associated development methodologies
  • Any prior experience with project planning with medium size or medium level complexity projects
  • Ability to interact well in a team environment
  • Passing score on a selected entry test for new hires (test selected based on project requirements)
  • Desired Previous Experience/Education

  • Associate Degree in IS related field, or comparable work experience in an Information Systems position or related business position, Bachelor's Degree in IS related field, or comparable work experience in an Information Systems position or related business position
  • 4 years of experience in adjacent technologies
