Job Purpose and Impact
The Accounting Clerk responsibilities include keeping financial records updated, preparing reports and reconciling bank statements. You will also run accounting software programs to process business transactions, like accounts payable and receivable, disbursements, expense vouchers and receipts.
Ultimately, a successful Accounting Clerk will ensure that the company’s daily accounting functions run accurately and effectively. The ideal candidate for this position would have proven abilities in multi-tasking and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department
- Type accurately, prepare and maintain accounting documents and records
- Prepare bank deposits, general ledger postings and statements
- Reconcile accounts in a timely manner
- Daily enter key data of financial transactions in database
- Provide assistance and support to company personnel
- Responsible for collecting customer payments, responding to customer requests, researching payment discrepancies, preparing billing adjustments, and communicating internally and externally to resolve billing and payment issues
- Inform management and compile reports/summaries on activity areas
- Function in accordance with established standards, procedures and applicable laws
- Communicate via phone, email, and Teams messaging with Customers, Carriers and Co-Workers
- Help update and create training materials for the accounting department
- Stay educated on current industry standards and news
- Directives from Staff Accountant
What you have to offer
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related field; OR equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures
- Competency in MS Office, databases and accounting software
- Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and financial reports
- Ability to multi-task to meet deadlines and personal as well as company goals
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Aptitude for numbers
- Well organized
