What are the responsibilities and job description for the R & D Technician position at KSL Diagnostics, Inc.?

Job Purpose / Summary:

This is a laboratory-based position within the Research and Development group. The candidate will perform tests for the development of robust immunoassays and human samples collection devices. Feasibility, verification and validation assays will be designed by the R&D Scientist and/or R&D Manager and those assays will be performed by the R&D Technician. Immuno assays will be developed for a range of moieties such as proteins, cytokines and antibodies. Collection devices will cover the range of human sample matrices for safe collection and transport to testing laboratories. Assays include Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assays (ELISA), Chemiluminescence Assays (CLIA), Indirect Immunofluorescence (IIF), Line Immunoassays (LIA), cell-based assays such as flow cytometry. The position can also include growth and maintenance of viral and bacterial cultures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Perform immunoassays as requested by the R&D Scientist and/or R&D Manager in support of immunoassay development. Assay could include ELISA, CLIA, IIF, LIA and cell-based assays such as flow cytometry.

· Initiate and maintain viral and bacterial cultures for verification and validation testing of human sample collection devices.

· Document experiments, analyze data, and provide conclusions obtained from assay development in either an electronic or paper notebook as directed. Maintain good electronic and physical records within a cGMP and ISO regulated company.

· Maintain organized raw material storage for easy retrieval of materials and associated records.

· Provide data analysis in support of technical documents including, development reports, analytical test methods, verification and validation protocols and reports.

Requirements:

Education, skills and / or work experience requirements:

o Bachelor’s degree in biological science, biochemistry, or related discipline is required. Master’s degree is preferred but not necessary.

o Background in biochemical and immunological techniques.

o Laboratory experience with immunoassays is preferred.

o Proficiency with personal computers including word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, and relevant scientific software is required.

o Strong verbal and written communication skills.

o Attention to detail and willingness to learn new skills and techniques.

Physical requirements:

o Standard laboratory conditions – sitting, standing, primarily lab based 40 hours per week.

o Be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time

o Be able to lift and move equipment weighting up to 50 pounds

Pay: From $48,750.00 per year
