Job Description Summary
The principle responsibility of the Warehouse Industrial Engineer will be to serve as the onsite lean warehouse expert for KEA. This individual will act as the design and change agent for the facility and be the point of contact for and drive all facility & process improvement projects. The incumbent will have a broad knowledge of Lean, TPS or Six Sigma project management and process improvement strategies that will be applied and have a direct impact to operational performance at KEA.
Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as the subject matter expert for all processes in KEA warehouse. Analyzes work and document processes using industrial engineering techniques, i.e. process flow charts, traditional time studies, and predetermined time standards to develop process cycle time.
Make proposals for warehouse design, storage& layouts and leverages experience and tools to optimize space utilization and work efficiency
Leads employees and facilitates 5S training/implementation, Kaizen events, suggestion programs, and other improvement practices to continuously improve warehouse operations. Responsible for training and instructing teams on how to apply LEAN methodology for eliminating wastes in the operation (PDCA)
Develops process flow, system integration, layout concepts, equipment specifications, role developments, work instructions, standards, improvement activities, etc.
Defines problems and opportunities in quantitative terms. Gathers and analyzes data to evaluate alternate courses of action to improve warehouse processes. Recommends and justifies process improvement solutions. Assists managers and works with supervisory staff to implement process changes throughout the operation.
Develops work and performance measurements. Devises and implements control systems to collect and analyze data, establishes standards for performance and develops tools for measuring performance to control deviation from standards. Provides management reporting and KPI’s as needed.
Is responsible for meeting the quality PPM and establishing the quality measurement and performing RCCA for all internal and external quality or performance claims.
Presents improvement plans to management team with benefits, cost and ROI.
Responsible for capacity planning and recommends capacity alternatives when needed
Works with vendors to improve product packaging as needed.
Facility point of contact for all IT projects and responsible for training of employees affected by IT enhancements. Additional responsibilities include: working with the IT team to test and roll out IT changes.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Lean Six Sigma or TPS experience and certification, Black belt preferred
Proven track record of implementing process changes that result in operational savings
Change Management methodology
Computer skills required, to include Microsoft office experience and warehouse management systems experience (EWM, S4, MS Project, Visio)
At least 4 years’ experience working in a high-volume distribution center. Must be detailed-oriented and able to multi-task in a fast paced environment. Must possess written and oral communications skills.
Education and Training
Bachelor’s degree required (Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain Management preferred)
8 years prior warehouse or supply chain experience
Physical Demands
Required to lift light objects
Required to work in an office and warehouse environment
Work Environment
Work is primarily performed in a warehouse where the worker is subject to temperature changes
Regular exposure to vibration, fumes, gases, and proximity to moving mechanical parts
Noise level ranges from moderate to very loud

Forklift truck, hand pallet jack, label machine, packing machine, computer, and calculator
