Your Role

Provide outstanding customer service and complete all tasks and responsibilities related to customs entry transactions. Perform any tasks which are assigned by the Manager or Supervisor that meets and supports the needs of the Customs Brokerage Department.

Your Responsibilities

  • Preparation of all documents necessary to clear merchandise through US. Customs & Border Protection; PGA’s (Participating Governmental Agencies i.e. FDA, EPA, DOT, FCC, Fish and Wildlife...)
  • Timely arrival and readiness to work at your assigned starting time.
  • Process shipments within department guidelines
    Air – 24 hours/wheels up;
    Ocean – 5 days prior to arrival.
  • Timely and accurate input of all data/information necessary to process and facilitate shipments through U.S. Customs and PSG’s.
  • Classify goods according to the HTSUS and in alignment with any customer SOP’s and/or instructions.
  • Document review and assessment for accuracy, verification of critical data elements for entry processing.
  • File break down, classifying data entry, photocopying, scanning and some assembly of entries.
  • Communicate documentation discrepancies to supervisor and/or client.
  • Request or compile any necessary import documentation from client.
  • Accurate completion of all PSG forms and regulations (i.e. FDA, EPA, DOT, FCC, Fish & Wildlife etc...)
  • Help answer incoming calls to the office.
  • Be organized and detail oriented in every task that you undertake.
  • Answer client’s calls or questions within 1 hour.If you are unable to, respond back and explain why and when you will reply with the answer (Manage and assist to resolve all customer queries and ensure resolution of all problems).
  • Interact closely with internal customers/departments to ensure customer service levels are achieved.
  • Achieve at least 40/52 hours of training each year.
  • Self imitative by taking on increasing responsibility.
  • Always use common sense and have a purpose for every action that you are involved in.
  • Impeccable customer service.
  • Perform audit review on all assigned brokerage files and payments to customs.
  • Maintain and keep current all customs compliance documentation.
  • Process documents through the Company’s ABI system, obtaining Customs release and other government agency releases as appropriate. Arrange both delivery and the invoicing of the import account for services rendered.
  • Review and monitor all Customs rejections, requests for information for clients and any other government agency, and other correspondence.
  • Adhere to all domestic and international shipping regulations.
  • Mandatory daily correspondence with overseas offices.
  • Work closely with other departments to deliver high level of service to customers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Your Skills and Experiences

  • Bachelors degree desirable.
  • 5 years brokerage experience.
  • Work closely with other departments to deliver high level of customer service to clients.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks of different importance.
  • Ability to work with demanding deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Team player which contributes to individually as well as to the team.
  • Organization, Focus to detail and attention.
  • Ability to learn new ideas and concepts.
  • Sense of urgency and high level energy.
  • Proven customer skills.
  • Ability to analyse and effectively solve problems.
  • Accurate and rapid data entry.
  • Basic knowledge of HTSUS Classification.
  • Basic knowledge of Inco Terms.
  • Review and monitor customs rejects of ones own work, requests for information, notices of action for clients and other government agencies and other correspondence.
