What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Service Coordinator position at KVC Kansas Health System?
Position Summary: The Family Service Coordinator provides coordination to children and their foster families in order to facilitate safety, permanency and well-being.
Location: Lawrence/ Ottawa
Education: A bachelor's or master's degree in an area licensable by the Kansas BSRB
Experience: Two years' experience with children and family services required
Licensure/Certification: Current, valid Driver's License and Auto Insurance required. Licensure by the Kansas BSRB is required
Essential Duties:
- Extensive driving required; personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement (valid insurance & driver's license needed).
- Participate in recruitment, training, licensing, and support of family foster homes.
- Provide ongoing support, crisis response, and home visits as required.
- Attend meetings, court hearings, and conferences related to foster children.
- Offer 24/7 on-call crisis intervention on a rotation schedule.
- Meet all performance expectations, contract requirements, and legal obligations.
- Assess client and foster family needs, referring to community resources.
- Deliver services per program and contract guidelines.
- Complete required paperwork in a timely manner.
- Develop resources to meet client and staff needs.
- Provide culturally sensitive services and positive feedback to clients.
- Supervise Social Work Interns and report signs of abuse/neglect.
- Provide transportation for clients if necessary.
- Participate in developing new services.
- Complete required therapy hours and attend trainings.
