Job Description
Basic Function: Under general supervision, performs a variety of operational, field service and maintenance tasks.
Verifies that materials, equipment, and tools received are as expected and ordered in both type and quantity.
Keep tools/equipment warehouse organized. Organize incoming items to proper location. Prepares appropriate documentation for shipments of tools and equipment to job sites and/or for repair and calibration. Execute preventive maintenance and minor repairs on test equipment.
Typical duties/responsibilities for field service may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Operation and maintenance of gas handling equipment and cryogenic plant at Energy facility in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania,
• Operate and maintain the cryogenic SF6 recycling process as required
• Perform field services which may include: filling, recovery, and evacuation of SF6 insulated equipment; blending of mix gas including N2, O2, CO2, C4FN; testing of gas mix and/or SF6, electrical testing of gas insulated equipment; and documenting the results of all service related projects while maintaining minimal SF6 emissions
• Analyzes and makes general preventative maintenance and repairs to electrical and mechanical systems associated with N2, SF6 and cryogenic process, including: valves, motor controls, PLC, relays and instrumentation.
• Make repairs to gas handling equipment including but not limited to cryogenic plant, gas analyzers, SF6 gas carts pumps, compressors and hoses, vacuum pumps
• Maintains an appropriate stock of recommended parts necessary to repair the company fleet
• Provide on site technical assistance with SF6 handling services utilizing SF6 recovery and analyzer systems, while maintaining minimal SF6 emissions
• Maintain files and records of shipping/receiving gas cylinders.
• Coordinates shipping and receiving as assigned of in coming and out going equipment or cylinders
• Perform basic visual and functional tests on other field service equipment as required
• General preventative maintenance on field service equipment with direction from management and the possibility of working with the OEM.
• Communicate with local vendors for replacement parts/services
• Adheres to and ensures that safety policies and procedures are followed.
Support planning and scheduling activities, ensuring systems are constantly updated as to reflect location and status of equipment and tools
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Complexity of Tasks: Follow standard practices and procedures in resolving basic and complex problems. Decisions are usually based on established precedents and may affect quality and accuracy. Refer complex problems to supervisor.
Qualifications: Associate degree plus 3-5 years of related experience with maintenance, gas handling and cryogenic processes, alternatively with I&C Instrumentation and Control or HVAC (Heat Ventilation Air Conditioning).
Preference for technical specialization or associate degree in an electrical or mechanical area.
Proven knowledge of preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment.
Previous knowledge of cylinders and gases
Knowledge of industrial mechanical equipment, such as compressors, pumps, hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems, pipefitting
Preference to candidates with PLC programming experience
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to stand, squat, or kneel for extended periods of time
Ability to work with hand tools and other mechanical equipment
