Application Designer

We are looking for an experienced Applications Designer to work with internal and external resources. We are seeking a self-motivated professional with strong verbal and written communication skills, customer oriented with strong negotiation skills, analytically and data driven, and with the ability to work independently and multitask.

Duties will include working with internal and external resources to understand customers challenges and propose technical solution. This includes obtaining estimates, quotes, and establishing contracts for L&S Electric Power Control Solution Division OEM Panel profit center. This will also involve layout drawings, schematics, and ModCenter files will be created for manufacturing once contracts are established. 

Responsibilities:

• Understanding customer technical and commercial challenges
• Interpretation of technical and commercial specifications and customer requirements
• Evaluation of project conditions through visual, verbal, and written means
• Coordination of the development and documentation of conceptual system designs
• Create and maintain schematics, wiring diagrams, layout drawings, ModCenter files, and parts lists used for the manufacture of OEM panel equipment
• Perform, study, and design work for projects that may include existing facility evaluations, feasibility studies, design, cost estimating, and similar functions.
• Design and develop layouts for electrical circuits or systems for power distribution
• Field survey to identify site conditions.
• Code review and compliance.
• Engineering calculations including electrical load calculations, conduit and electrical system sizing, and equipment capacity
• Interact with clients, vendors, contractors, architects, and fellow engineers to design required coordinated designs.
• Obtain, assess, and compare quotes from vendors
• Develop project cost estimates and pricing
• Prepare technical and commercial proposals and customer bid documents

Requirements:

• Technical degree or 3 years’ relevant experience
• Computer skills including Autodesk AutoCAD Electrical, Infor, Microsoft Office
• Experience with electrical control systems
• Maintain parts database and drawing libraries

Preferred:

• Electrical and mechanical aptitude
• Able to interpret electrical drawings
•  Knowledge of NEC & UL 508A
• Experience with OEM panel building and estimating
• Previous technical sales experience
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Excellent communication and customer relations skills
• Goal oriented; ability to focus on a goal and obtain a pre-determined result
