Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Lead as part of a network of EHS professionals around the globe. A successful candidate will be:

  • Well-rounded and experienced in environmental, health and safety requirements.
  • Comfortable working closely with the operations team and a strong communicator across all employees and functions.
  • Proven self-starter and creative in supporting the company’s EH&S goals and compliance obligations.

Position purpose:

  • The EHS Lead is responsible for implementing, and maintaining the policies, programs, and procedures within the L3Harris Environment Health and Safety management system. The EHS Lead will ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, federal, state and local requirements.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Participates actively in the management of the organization to establish policies and directions to achieve leadership within the EHS program.
  • Work with internal and external customers, to include supporting associate contractors.
  • Ensures that all applicable internal and external reporting requirements are performed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Conducts workplace surveys, safety audits and assessments. Advises management of conditions requiring corrective action.
  • Provides and supports EHS briefings and training sessions as appropriate to fulfill regulatory requirements and foster a safe working environment.
  • Performs accident investigations, root cause analysis when EHS incidents occur and recommends corrective action where environmental, health and safety hazards exist.
  • Promotes Sustainability program and initiatives.
  • Implements the EHS program within the scope of associated contracts, and responsible for compliance with all applicable EHS and corporate management standards.
  • Maintains required records in accordance with regulatory and L3Harris, to include PPE, training, certifications, inspections, audits, fire prevention, Hazardous waste requirements (pick-ups, weekly container inspections, appropriate labeling, etc.)
  • Establishes and maintains necessary contacts with site, county, state, federal regulatory agencies.
  • Work is performed in multiple environments to include office, project, outside, and site location support. Ability to support regional locations via day travel upto 50%. Flexible to off-shift or weekends activities, as needed. Performs other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Degree (Bachelors or Masters) in a related Health and Safety, Environmental, Science, or Engineering discipline highly preferred.
  • Experience with OSHA, EPA, and DOT requirements.
  • Competent computer skills related to Microsoft office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint along with ability to find technical information on the internet when required.
  • Dynamic and active communicator – able to personally lead selected projects and communicate with external firms and consultants.
  • Strong collaboration skills – demonstrated ability to work effectively in a matrixed environment.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with limited direction.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Leadership capability to guide business or functional teams without formal management role.
  • Experience managing EH&S programs in a highly regulated environment.
  • Experience using EHS common systems, databases and reporting tools.
  • Experience with Safety, Environmental and Health/ Industrial Hygiene programs such as Machine Guarding, Electrical, Field Safety, Ergonomics, Hazardous Waste Program, Hazardous Communications-Global Harmonization Systems (GHS), Chemical Lab Safety and Hazardous properties, Contractor Management, Behavior Based Safety Systems and Emergency Procedures/Response.
  • EHS high performance programs, VPP, SHARP, ISO 45001, 14001.

  • Certifications: DOT Hazardous Waste Shipper, First Aid/CPR/AED Certifications, Certified Safety Professional or other EHS related certifications.
