Job Description:
This role is a dual role who is a subject matter expert with comprehensive knowledge of Quality Engineering responsible for the development, deployment, and effective management of industry standard Quality / Business Management System (Q/BMS) Quality Engineering processes in alignment with the requirements of AS9100, including, but not limited to the guidelines contained in AS9145, and AS6500A, and the effective implemenation of these processes to ensure programs within the assigned scope of responsibility consistently deliver product meeting all quality and performance requirements on time and within budget.
The critical business impact of this role is to deliver measurable improvements and year over year reductions in the Rate of Occurrence of Nonconformances, Cost of Poor Quality, and Customer Quality Escapes. And, to deliver measurable improvements and year over year increases in Rolled Throughput Yield (RTY) and On-Time Delivery (OTD). Both reductions and improvements will be achieved through effective management of focused Quality Improvement Plans (QIP).
- Engages with Business Development, Program Management, and Contract Bid and Proposal teams to review contractual requirements and determine accurate bid information to effectively support contract needs prior to contract award
- Provides Quality Assurance Leadership to ensure conformance with AS9100 and other relevant industry standard requirements within one or multiple Program Teams holding self and others accountable to meet commitments throughout the product life cycle assuring that all applicable elements, product and process technical and quality standards are effectively incorporated into new designs and into changes in designs
- Consistently delivers Quality oversight, execution, and timely completion of the Quality Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) deliverables ensuring compliance with customer contractual and regulatory requirements, including accurate Quality Assurance Program Plans (QAPP), on programs working in partnership with the Program Management, Engineering Design & Development offices, Production / Manufacturing, Customers, and Supplier Quality in efficient, effective, and rapid development of new products and delivery of re-use of existing products to ensure zero product quality escapes
- Provides oversight to the Production & Sustaining Quality Engineering team in the development of Process Flow & Control Plans, Process Failure Modes & Effects Analyses (PFMEA), including definition of internal and external measurement metrologies, definition of Critical to Quality (CtQ parameters) and acceptance criteria, disposition of nonconforming materials, and measurement system evaluations, as applicable, for programs within the assigned scope of responsibility
- Provides leadership and owns the technical problem solving driving root cause(s) and corrective action(s) to prevent recurrence for issues that may arise on projects and programs, including Customer Quality Escapes and GIDEP alerts, impacting product Quality throughout the end-to-end product lifecycle providing project and program teams with clear, consistent, and timely feedback as it relates to contractual and/or regulatory exposure providing innovative solutions to effectively resolve issues in a timely manner
- Builds strong customer relationships and delivers customer-centric solutions serving as the primary interface to customers, including DCMA, for all Program / Project / Product related Quality matters within assigned scope of responsibility
- Makes significant improvements to optimize work processes with a focus on continual improvement to provide the most effective and efficient methods to deliver results for Quality Engineering explaining, interpreting, and gaining cooperation on policies, procedures and practices
- Help to develop and implement a company culture of personal accountability
- May lead Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis (DFMEA) activities
- May conduct briefings with senior leaders
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned, as required, to support business needs.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering from an ABET accredited university
- 9 years of work experience in Design and Development engineering, Quality Engineering, and / or Manufacturing Engineering
- Current DoD Secret Security Clearance required
Preferred Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of and experience with Project Management
- Working knowledge of Product Configuration Management
- Practical experience with Operational Risk Management throughout the Product Lifecycle
- Technical Structured Problem Solving experience. Opportunities for problem solving and innovation are complex and may require comprehensive information gathering, analysis and investigation to understand the problem. Problems are generally solved through creative solutions, drawing from prior experience and in-depth analysis of issues.
