Job Description:
The Machinist executes a variety of manufacturing related skills to fabrication and/or machining of precision sheet metal and/or precision parts for use in the electronic industry and/or manufacturing assembly.
The Machinist will perform a wide variety of machining operations to tight tolerances. They must be able to work independently, without direction, with all types of processes and or prototype development instructions including prints, sketches, schematics, etc. They must have wide-ranging knowledge in the operation of metal working tools and machines. Must be able to determine the most efficient and economical methods of producing product from all material types and hardware. Perform precision machining operations during development and production states per documentation.
Essential Functions:
Ability to set up and operate a variety of machine equipment
Understands and complies with customer specification in part manufacturing
Understands and uses a wide variety of mathematical functions applicable to work tasks
Comprehensive knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T)
Checks, verifies and builds machining operations against specified tolerances
Ability to construct, modify or repair a wide variety of product parts, subassemblies and related tooling
Perform preventive maintenance on machines
Maintain work area and machine shop to 5S 1 standards
Qualifications:
Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Machinist with 8 or more years of experience in precision machining.
Specifically Mill-Turn multi axis machining experience.
Must be able to set up machines, run first piece and operate machines.
Troubleshoot any problems with and program machines at the control and in MasterCam.
Responsible for editing G-code and have knowledge of feeds and speeds calculations, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
Must understand differences in materials and cutting tools. Verifies dimensions for conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
Ability to read and understand engineering blueprints and be knowledgeable of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
Works with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
