L3Harris has an immediate opening for an experienced Cloud Software Architect to join the Mission Networks Cloud Engineering team that provides modern, secure, reliable and resilient telecommunications networks and information management systems. The team develops critical communication capabilities for air traffic control, air-to-ground data communication, secure access to situational awareness data and secure information sharing to state agencies.

The Mission Networks Cloud team leverages Cloud Service Providers (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud) in delivering solutions to improve customer operations and to provide information management services. We value a strong knowledge of software development best practices and experience delivering & deploying Cloud based applications and services.

The Cloud Software Architect will help guide the development team to deliver a Managed Services solution supporting Operations Support Systems & Business Support Systems. The Software Architect will ensure the development environments, development tools and software solution meet the needs of the program to complete development and successfully deploy the solution. The Software Architect will work with vendors to ensure timely resolution of issues and ensure the software team has the knowledge and expertise to support the various components of the solution. The Software Architect will provide expertise and leadership to the team in the use of DevSecOps methodology & tools and coordinate with security staff to acquire release approvals.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain the operability of the development/test environment(s) and ensure they meet DevSecOps best practices and are kept up to date.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on the topic and lead teams to supporting the components as part of enterprise solutions.
  • Oversee the technical details related to the integration of the various COTS products by the software teams and coordinate alignment between the software teams and program leadership.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and resolving issues related to the integration of COTS products into the single solution and coordinating a quick resolution with the vendors.
  • Coach the teams to develop Cloud enabled solutions capable of deployment in Cloud and/or hybrid environments.
  • Work with security leaders to help define and implement security controls.
  • Create and maintain virtualized, containerized and/or cloud environments used by software teams.
  • Coordinate with other functional leaders to create environments that support end-to-end solutions and coordinate the use of the environments by all the functions to meet program schedules.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading multiple software teams to deliver enterprise solutions implemening RESTful Web Services, Microservices and/or Cloud (AWS preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience deploying and managing applications using application servers such as Weblogic (WLS), WebSphere or similar.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an FAA public trust clearance.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with AWS. AWS Solutions Architect and/or AWS Sys Ops certification(s) highly desired.
  • Experience with Kubernetes.
  • Kubernetes Administrator certification(s).
  • Experience with DevSecOps.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash or other shell scripting.
  • Experience developing applications using relational and noSQL databases (Cassandra, MariaDB, InfluxDB, EnterpriseDB).
  • Experience with iterative software development processes (Agile, SCRUM, Kanban).
  • Active FAA Public Trust security clearance.
