Donation Specialist
Position Summary: Provide excellent service to clients and guests of the La Casa Client Donation Room by sorting incoming donations in such a way that places La Casa clients and the needs of the organization first. Communicate with the Program Manager to collaborate on donation room needs in order to positively impact guests, donors and communities of Dona Ana County and surrounding areas, and facilitate dignity among clients who use the donation room.
Hours: As assigned, 8-hour shifts, weekends and evenings required

Essential Duties
Donation Sorting:
- Honor incoming donations by sorting them in a timely and careful manner.
- Evaluate donations for quality and condition, separating what will be kept and what will be shared with community partners.
- Lift and move boxes/bags of donated items up to 35lbs.
- Occasionally dropping off donations to other agreed upon locations.
Client Donation Room:
- Ensure that the closet is organized, orderly, safe, and pleasing to the eye.
- Arrange clothing according to type, gender and size to make it easy for clients and case managers to quickly get what they need.
- Assess through observation and collaboration with the Program Manager as to what items are needed/wanted, sizes, styles etc. so they can be pulled from the store.
- In collaboration with the Program Manager, respond to case manager requests for certain items
- Ensure that items are in good condition. No pilling, tears, missing buttons, odors, heavy lint or stains.
- Size all items on racks in an easy to understand manner and keep them sized on a regular basis.
- With the support of the programs manager case manager supervisors, set up systems that let us know the regularity of client visits to the closet.
- Co-create sign in sheets for anyone entering
- Co-create a system to weigh items that are given out
- Tracking necessary data in a system file
- Assist clients and case managers in the room upon request and when appropriate.
- Under supervision of Program Manager, decorate the room with meaningful and appropriate wall décor.
- Under supervision of Program Manager, set up donated services for clients such as haircuts, styling for client interviews or special occasions (outfits).
Thrift Store Support:
- Store coverage as needed, to include evenings and weekends.
- Provide excellent customer service
- POS checkout service
- Assist with donation sorting
- Bilingual customer service
- Receive, assist and thank donors for their donations
- General cleaning and upkeep of store
Training:
- Attend staff meetings and La Casa trainings approved by supervisor
- Stay abreast of best practice when working with victims and survivors of domestic abuse.
- Ongoing professional development as it pertains to clients served by La Casa.
Expectations:

- Follow all safety rules and guidelines; maintain a neat, safe and organized workspace.
- Pick up bags/boxes of donations from the outside front area or lobby to maintain clear paths.
