This is an excellent opportunity available for an MLT or an MT in a thriving urology practice. If you are skilled in urinalysis and the microscopic evaluation of urine sediment, if you want to work Monday-Friday with no weekends or holidays, if you are proficient in phlebotomy and enjoy interacting with patients then this is the job for you! We are also looking for a tech who is confident in their ability to work unsupervised, perform phlebotomy, quality control, instrument maintenance, ordering, processing and packaging specimens, inventory management, and the promotion of positive interactions with clinic staff, physicians, and patients.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
- Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
- Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
- Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
- Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
- Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
- Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
- Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
- Assist with processing of specimens when needed
- Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
The schedule for this position will be: 1st shift, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm.
Requirements:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology (MLT or MT) is required
- Previous Generalist experience including Chemistry, Hematology and Urinalysis preferred
- Proficiency with phlebotomy is required
- ASCP or AMT certification is required or the eligibility to sit for the ASCP exam
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems are a plus
- High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
- Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
