What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Lab Liaison position at Labcorp?
Labcorp, a leading global life sciences company, is seeking a Technical Laboratory Liaison. Labcorp specializes in diagnostics, drug development, and technology-enabled solutions to improve health and improve lives.
As the field of cytogenetics has evolved, so have the needs of our clients. This exciting new position within the cytogenetics lab will combine cytogenetic technical lab expertise with superior project management and communication skills to help bridge the information gap between the laboratory and the teams communicating with our clients.
This pioneering role will be in a position to directly impact the client/patient experience for a select client list all while developing innovative solutions to complex case management and laying the ground work for improved communication with ALL clients.
This individual will assist the lab in tracking incoming specimens from their clients and triage the management of these specimens through to reporting. They will ensure that all testing ordered is implemented smoothly and that the client is alerted promptly to any specimen management decisions or delays.
The shift for this position will be: 1st shift between the hours of 10:00am – 7:30pm with varying start times
Responsibilities:
- Communicating with the Account Manager to receive all information about incoming specimens, notifying the appropriate lab group and organizing this information for further tracking
- Connecting with the laboratory to make sure specimens arrived as expected and are processed for all ordered tests in a timely manner
- Communicating with the lab about any specimens that are not meeting expected TATs, documenting details relevant to client facing reps in the system and initiating the process to notify the account
- Communicating with the lab about any sample size or quality issues upfront to ensure the client is brought in on any specimen management decisions in a timely manner
- Communicating with the courtesy forwards group to be sure that all samples ordered for send out to another laboratory are processed without added delays or complications
- Assessing how any of the improved communication pathways implemented for this select client list can be applied more broadly across the lab
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences
- Prior clinical lab experience required but experience in Cytogenetics preferred.
- Must possess good organizational/project management skills with an eye for process improvements.
- Strong communication skills.
- Highly responsive with sense of urgency to provide accurate deliverables under tight time pressure.
- Flexibility to handle multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Ability to pivot and make recommendations based on processes
- Ability to think creatively, highly-driven and self-motivated.
- Proficient in LCLS, Java, Eassist and other Labcorp LIMS systems would be preferred.
