Labor Solutions has gained partnerships with multiple industrial companies that need our assistance to help with hiring for their job opportunities. We are in search of a Technical Writer/Documentation Specialist to join their team.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Technical Writer/Documentation Specialist is responsible for managing, filing, routing for approval, and distribution of change management documentation for specifications, manufacturing directions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other controlled documentation supporting manufacturing. This position is also responsible for maintaining files for other support documentation such as audit reports, product complaints, investigations, product specifications, validation protocols, etc. This position is further responsible for filing, retrieving, and final destruction of documents according to the records retention program.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Create documented work instructions, SOP’s, one-point lessons for all department through physical observation, note-taking, and documentations of processes for all departments
- Update documented materials when new or existing products or procedures change including new equipment introduction
- Assist in collection, maintenance, and distribution of documentation for processes of manufacturing and office processes
- Assist in the development and maintenance of physical and digital filing system
- Assist in operation of document control center to ensure all users have the latest revision of documentation
- Develop system to ensure documentation is reviewed on a regular basis, and updated as required including escalation when deadlines are missed
- Trains new supervisors/ managers on documentation processes and reminds individuals of records retention strategies
- Other duties as assigned including training others on known processes
HOURS:
This is a full-time 40 hour per week role working 4-10s schedule of Monday-Thursday working between the hours of 6:00am and 6:00pm. Potential for occasional overtime and Saturdays.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 1 years in a process documentation role in a manufacturing facility
- High school diploma
- Proficiency in reading and writing in English
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Degrees and/or certifications in relevant fields
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC:
- Skilled with Microsoft Word to include creating and updating templates and insertion of pictures without compromising ability to read instructions
- Skilled with photography and Microsoft Photos
- Skilled with problem-solving with strong attention to detail
- Able to manage multiple priorities effectively and independently through completion with high degree of quality
- Excellent listening and observation skills to identify the most efficient way to communicate information
- Able to communicate with multiple levels of employees from entry-level to executive and provide follow-up and escalation as needed
- Must be highly self-motivated, work with minimal supervision able to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment, may work near moving equipment, and exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes, and noise.
